Natural Diet Reduces Cholesterol
Patients with hypercholesterolemia (high blood cholesterol) given a diet of red yeast rice, and fish oil supplements for 12 weeks were found to have a statistically significant reduction in LDL-C levels(–42.4%±15%) (P<.001).

Kihi-to Improves Memory Impairment in Mice
The traditional Japanese-Chinese medicine Kihi-to, was examined using Alzheimer's disease model mice cultured cortical neurons.
The study found Kihi-to improves the memory impairment and losses of neurites and synapses in memory acquisition, memory retention, and object recognition memory.

Complementary Method Use by Cancer Survivors
A recent study published in the journal Cancer, surveys all the alternative medical methods used by surviving cancer patients. 4139 survivors of cancer were queried on their alternative methods.
"Of the 19 CMs (Complementary Methods) included in the survey, the CMs most frequently reported were prayer/spiritual practice (61.4%), relaxation (44.3%), faith/spiritual healing (42.4%), nutritional supplements/vitamins (40.1%), meditation (15%), religious counseling (11.3%), massage (11.2%), and support groups (9.7%). Among these 19 CMs, the least prevalent were hypnosis (0.4%), biofeedback therapy (1.0%), and acupuncture/acupressure (1.2%). Survivors more likely to use CMs were female, younger, white, higher income, and more educated."
